Fort Lauderdale, USA

Fort Lauderdale, USA

Today is our last day of flying; as planned. What did not end as planned is the location: Fort Lauderdale in the USA instead of Mollis in Switzerland. It is what it is; we are healthy, happy and had a fantastic journey and experience.

Nice breakfast, long check-out and up in the air after one hour after leaving the hotel. This is the reason we decided to go to Barbados: the most efficient handling on the whole journey. The first leg of our last day of flying with the „Töffli“ takes us to Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Here we have to clear US Immigration, Customs and all the rest of it: and we are prepared that they take us completely apart coming from Columbia, Peru, El Salvador and all these other countries famous for drugs. A couple of officers go through the plane and not even a sniffer dog shows up. They all are very friendly and after filling out the immigration forms, taking our finger prints and photos, we would be ready to go. Since the RMF bank has over USD 10‘000.– in liquidity, Rainer has to declare it and this takes a bit longer.

After one hour we are airborne again and are flying over Turks and Caicos, Bahamas to Florida. We are lucky with the weather: a few hours before they had a heavy thunderstorm with hale and some airports where closed. When we arrived it is all dry which is good for us; completely unloading the plane, repack our things and hand over our PC12 to the folks that will do the service during the next few days. Traffic is bad and it takes us almost two hours to reach our hotel in downtown Miami. The closing dinner is at a local Chinese: Mr. Chow.

The last day went by quickly and somehow we feel a bit sad; last take off and landing. But on the other side we all see our families in the next few days – which makes us happy again.

With this we end our reporting on our website. We hope you enjoyed following us on our journey and we could give you some impressions with our photos.

Should you feel like doing something similar – go for it! It is a once in a lifetime experience!
